🌀The Innkeeper’s Note (TL;DR)

Collegiate Calamity is an exciting, multi-phase Delve, offering over 670k XP per hour when approached correctly.
With various story variants, it’s a dynamic and rewarding experience. From weed-clearing to Void defense, and even cultist hunting, this delve is a goldmine for both loot and XP.

  • Variant Mastery: Tailor your approach to the situation. Choose between Invasive Glow, Academy Under Siege, or Faculty of Fear to maximize your XP and loot efficiency.

  • Deweeder Trick: In the Invasive Glow variant, the Grimgrow Deweeder is your best friend. Use it to instantly wipe out Weedlings and keep your momentum going!

  • Interrupt Priorities: Keep a close eye on key abilities like Blooming Shield (Radiant Chloromancers) and Terrifying Power (Voidscorned Vagrant), interrupt them at all costs to keep the flow of battle in your favor.

  • Healing Helpers: Your NPC allies are critical to success. Valeera deal massive damage, but they can also go unconscious. Keep them alive, and they’ll carry you to victory!

  • Elite Awareness: Watch out for dangerous abilities like Blooming Bile from Stumpspreaders, a frontal cone attack that can easily ruin your run if you're not paying attention. Always be ready to dodge.

Versions of Collegiate Calamity

The Collegiate Calamity Delve features 3 distinct story variants:

  • Invasive Glow

  • Academy Under Siege

  • Faculty of Fear

Each variant offers unique challenges and rewards, so let’s dive into what each of these versions entails.

Invasive Glow – Pruning the Garden

In this version, the college grounds have become overrun with a vicious group of Invasive Lightbloom enemies. These vibrant but dangerous invaders are taking root and causing havoc. If you're looking to clear them out and claim some serious XP, this session is your first step to success.

The Root of the Problem

  • Radiant Chloromancer: These pesky casters will continually try to keep themselves alive with Blooming Shield, an absorb shield that can be interrupted. While it’s important to interrupt this ability, make sure to prioritize interrupting more damaging abilities from other mobs when possible.

  • Thornblade: These melee mobs are fairly weak in terms of damage output, but they bring the threat of Bramble Blade, a stacking damage-over-time disease. If you're not skilled at dispelling diseases, it’s best to take these down quickly before they stack up and overwhelm you.

  • Stumpspreader: These large elite tree creatures are no joke. Their Blooming Bile ability is a frontal cone that hits hard. Fortunately, it’s avoidable. Just sidestep it to avoid unnecessary damage.

⚡Quick Guide

  1. Start the Delve: Speak to Bloomkeeper Thornflare, who’s standing ready to talk about pruning some weeds. Grab the Grimgrow Deweeder nearby to get your extra action button. This handy tool instantly kills Weedlings and deals a small amount of damage to larger mobs. Get ready to cut down some unwanted growth.

  2. 1 Weedling Clearing: Your first task is to eliminate 70 Weedlings in the initial section of the delve. These little guys might look harmless, but don’t underestimate their power; they hit hard! The Deweeder is perfect for mowing them down, especially if you group them up. Be mindful, though, as large pulls will require defensive cooldowns to survive.

  3. 2 Lightbloom Destruction: In this stage, you must fill a progress bar by eliminating Lightbloom and destroying 5 Luminbulbs. The Luminbulbs are dangerous because they spawn damaging circles on the ground. To make things easier, pull mobs onto these bulbs and use the Deweeder to destroy them and clear the area. And yes, Weedlings count toward the progress bar, so don’t forget to mow them down as you go!

Once the bar is complete, you’ll summon the boss, Hydrangea!

Hydrangea may look pretty, but don’t let that fool you; this boss can be a headache if you’re not paying attention to the mechanics. Luckily, you’ll get some help from NPCs who do a lot of damage but tend to stand in debuffs, which leaves them unconscious. Don’t worry; you can bring them back into the fight!

💡 Keep an interrupt ready for the Wildwood Weeds. If you miss it, the combo of the root and Lightbloom Salvo can quickly end your run. Keep the NPCs alive, and this boss is as good as dead.

Faculty of Fear – Exposed Infiltrators

In this version of Collegiate Calamity, your mission is to unmask and eliminate the insidious Twilight’s Blade Cultists who’ve infiltrated the college. These cultists have taken root among the faculty and are causing chaos, and it’s up to you to stop their dark plans before they can bring the academy to its knees.

Hidden Threats

  • Twilight Ogre Mage: These casters pack two powerful spells, both interruptible:

    • Shadow Bolt: A minor damage spell that you can mostly ignore unless you're feeling particularly lazy.

    • Sullen Shadow Bolt: A much stronger cast that should always be interrupted to avoid significant damage to your group.

  • Umbral Skullcrasher: These melee mobs deal minor damage but come with a nasty trick. They charge up their Twilight Crash, jumping to a random player and dealing damage around them. They also cast Sacrificial Aegis, which places a large absorb shield on them. Interrupt the Aegis if possible, especially when dealing with casters in your group.

  • Shadowburn Vortex: Large elemental casters that deal moderate damage with their Malicious Ray channel. This is interruptible, and if you leave them unchecked, their sustained damage can add up quickly.

⚡Quick Guide

  1. Start the Delve: Speak with Celonus Blackflame, who provides you with the Eye of Revelation an invaluable tool in this fight. This extra action button reveals disguised enemies hidden within the walls. These enemies are NPCs, and your job is to use the Eye to uncover them and take them down.

  2. Revealing Cultists: The objective here is to fill a progress bar by defeating enemies. You don’t need to reveal every single hidden cultist, but you’ll run out of enemies to kill if you don’t reveal a few. Keep your eyes peeled for the yellow-highlighted enemies that pop up once you activate the Eye.

    • Tip: Make sure to reveal enemies that are closer to the bar’s progress, as you’ll need the extra kills to fill it before the boss spawns.

Once the bar is full, Infiltrator Garand, the cult leader, will appear. He’s not a complex fight, but his mechanics can be deadly if you’re not careful. With the help of your NPC allies, this should be a relatively quick kill if you follow the strategy.

💡Pop a big defensive cooldown when rescuing students to mitigate the damage. The more students you free, the faster the fight will go, as they’ll start helping out with the boss and dealing massive damage once revived.

Academy Under Siege – Void Defense

In this variant of Collegiate Calamity, the very foundation of the academy is at risk. The void has set its sights on the school, and it's up to you to defend the grounds. Prepare yourself for a chaotic battle against overwhelming darkness, where every corner is filled with enemies seeking to bring the academy to its knees. But fear not, adventurer, this fight is all about preparation, coordination, and efficient use of NPC support.

Shadows of the Void

  • Domnaar Enforcers: These melee attackers are nothing to scoff at, but their true danger lies in their Void Circle ability. The circle they cast on the ground deals significant damage to anyone caught inside. Stay mobile, and avoid standing in it to minimize the damage.

  • Controlled Slaughterclaw: These elite beasts deal high physical damage and have two deadly abilities:

    • Seismic Stomp: This AoE damage affects everyone nearby, and the resulting damage circle forces you to spread out. Don't clump up, or you’ll feel the full force of the stomp.

    • Blood Frenzy: Once the Slaughterclaws are buffed with 5% attack speed and 10% movement speed, they become a serious threat. Interrupting their attacks or keeping your distance will prevent them from overwhelming you.

  • Shadowguard Phaseblade: These foes can pack a punch with their Corporal Cleave, a frontal cone attack that does substantial damage. Always be aware of their positioning and avoid standing in front of them to avoid taking full damage.

💡 Move fast, and this boss won’t even know what hit him.

⚡Quick Guide

  1. Start the Delve: Begin by speaking to Thalandri Fatesinger, who informs you that there are several Student Projects scattered throughout the area.
These projects, books, or scrolls found on the floor or counters are more than just decorative. Clicking them grants you random action buttons, each with a unique one-time-use ability. From fireballs to absorb shields, these abilities can help you control the battlefield and turn the tide in your favor.

  2. Objective: Activate Arcane Wards: Your main objective in this session is to activate four Arcane Wards scattered around the delve. The wards are easy to interact with; simply click on them to activate. However, the strategy lies in following a specific route to ensure that you’re close to the boss spawn location when the wards are activated.

  3. Recommended Route: Start by activating the wards along the path leading to the boss spawn point. This ensures you don’t waste time running in circles and positions you perfectly for the boss encounter.

The final confrontation in Academy Under Siege is with Voidscorned Vagrant, a boss that’s deceptively simple but can cause major problems if you don’t pay attention to mechanics. The final confrontation in Academy Under Siege is with Voidscorned Vagrant, a boss that’s deceptively simple but can cause major problems if you don’t pay attention to mechanics.

💡 Keep an eye on Valeera, as she can interrupt Terrifying Power for you if she’s in Damage mode. If she’s not, be prepared to take the interrupt yourself.

The Delver’s Hub: Silvermoon City and The Bazaar

In an unprecedented move, the Midnight Delve operations have been centralized in Silvermoon City’s Bazaar district.
/way 51.72, 78.07
No more fragmented hubs! Here, you’ll collaborate with fellow adventurers, share knowledge, and accumulate power.
The Bazaar acts as a neutral ground for both the Horde and Alliance. But don’t mistake neutrality for weakness; this is where the power of the Void is confronted.

And speaking of power, Valeera Sanguinar, the masterful Delve companion, will be your guide.

Valeera Sanguinar: A Tactical Genius at Your Side

Valeera is no mere companion. She’s the embodiment of deadly precision, a tactical mastermind. You’ll find her divided into three specialized roles:

  1. Damage Specialization: A burst of power, with Assassinate for swift, devastating kills and No Witnesses for momentum.

  2. Healing Specialization: Proactive healing with Vampiric Reaping and Crimson Vial Fumes. It’s all about gathering health from the battlefield.

  3. Tanking Specialization: Frontline control with abilities like Fan of Knives and Scar of Kathra'natir for damage mitigation.

Don’t you just love it when a warrior has the power of stealthy retribution?

What spec do you use for Valeera?

I haven't noticed much of a significant use in the DPS and Tank specs. Personally, I just use her as a healer, and it's the same with Brann.

Here is my current set (until I get her better skills)

Combate role - Healer
Combat Curio - Mantle of Stars
Utility Curio - Mandate of Sacred Death

📜FAQ / Quick Tips

What are Delves in World of Warcraft: Midnight?

World of Warcraft: Midnight Delves are role-agnostic, instanced PvE adventures designed for solo players or small groups of up to five. These short, repeatable scenarios offer a dedicated endgame progression path alongside traditional raids and Mythic+ dungeons. They feature 11 difficulty tiers and rotating daily objectives to keep gameplay varied.

Who is the new Delve companion in the Midnight expansion?

Valeera Sanguinar is the new seasonal companion for Midnight, replacing Brann Bronzebeard. Players can customize her role to act as a Tank, Healer, or DPS to complement their class. Her power is further augmented by "Curios" slottable artifacts that provide massive combat spikes or utility, such as the defensive Mantle of Stars.

How do I progress the Delver’s Journey and reach Rank 10?

The Delver’s Journey is a seasonal progression track consisting of 10 ranks, requiring a total of 42,000 points to complete. You can earn progress points by finishing Bountiful Delves (50–150 points), opening Bountiful Coffers with Restored Coffer Keys (250 points), and completing the weekly quest, "The Key to Success" (1,500 points).

What are Bountiful Delves and how do I get the best loot?

Bountiful Delves are daily rotating versions of standard Delves that offer superior rewards. To access the best gear, you must use a Restored Coffer Key on the Bountiful Coffer at the end of the run. Standard Delves provide non-upgradeable gear, making Bountiful runs the priority for character progression.

How do I defeat Nullaeus and unlock the Arcanovoid Construct mount?

Nullaeus is the Season 1 Nemesis boss located in the Torment's Rise Delve within the Voidstorm zone. To unlock the Arcanovoid Construct mount, you must defeat him solo on the "Challenge Tier" difficulty before the season ends. This encounter is a high-intensity skill check requiring precise interrupt discipline and hazard management.
