Greetings, Denizens of the Azeroth Galaxy!

Azeroth is opening another door, and you probably have a few questions before walking through it.
When can you log in?
Do you need to buy anything?
And how do you avoid creating a character somewhere your friends cannot join you?

WoW Forever Release Date and Global Launch Times

WoW Forever has one simultaneous global launch: November 4 at 23:00 UTC. Depending on your location, your local launch date is November 4 or November 5. Blizzard's announcement supplies the regional times below. New York and Auckland are additional conversions from the same UTC anchor.

PST is the correct Pacific abbreviation for this announced launch. Also, midnight CET means the beginning of November 5, not the end of that day. AEDT describes Sydney and Melbourne here, not every Australian location.

Our planning advice: set a calendar reminder using your city, then allow some flexibility around your first session. The announced opening time does not establish a queue length or guarantee uninterrupted service. We have no verified launch-day queue forecast to offer.

What Is World of Warcraft: Forever?

World of Warcraft: Forever is a permanent WoW experience alongside modern and Classic WoW, built around a reimagined original Azeroth and a level 1–60 journey. Blizzard places its story after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core.

Think about the kind of evening you want before choosing your starting character.
Perhaps you want to explore with friends, learn a healing class, or spend time on professions. Those are useful starting goals even before anyone publishes a supposedly perfect route.

Our editorial view is that a launch guide should help you enter the world confidently.
A list of speculative class winners can wait. A character whose basic playstyle you enjoy is a better foundation than a rushed decision based on an unverified ranking.

Returning players should also resist filling gaps with memories from another WoW version.
Familiar geography does not prove that an old quest route, class build, or dungeon access requirement is unchanged.

How to Download and Start Playing

Download Battle.net, sign in, select the WoW Forever game version, choose the correct WoW account, and install it. Blizzard's returning-player instructions describe the game-version and account selectors separately, which matters if your Battle.net account contains multiple WoW licenses.

Install the correct client

  1. Download the desktop app from the official Battle.net download page.

  2. Sign in to your Battle.net account.

  3. Find WoW: Forever and select it under Game Version.

  4. If several WoW accounts appear, select the one with the access you intend to use.

  5. Select Install and follow the launcher's progress information.

  6. Select Play when available.

Before a large download, check the installation location and review the current requirements linked from Blizzard's starter guide.
This article does not assign a fixed download size or substitute another WoW version's hardware specifications.

Which WoW Forever Ruleset Should You Choose? Normal, PvP, or Roleplay

Choose Normal if you want to focus on questing and fighting monsters, PvP if you enjoy the danger of enemy-player attacks, Roleplay if you want to play in character, or Roleplay PvP if you want both roleplaying and player combat.

The WoW Forever ruleset selection screen presents four options. Its most important warning is simple: you can only interact with players who choose the same ruleset.
Before making your choice, agree on a ruleset with the friends you plan to play with.

wow forever, gameplay ruleset, normal, pvp, roleplay, roleplay pvp
wow forever, gameplay ruleset, normal, pvp, roleplay, roleplay pvp

Is Normal the Best Ruleset for Beginners?

Our recommendation is Normal for beginners who want to learn at their own pace. Its description emphasizes adventuring and fighting monsters while allowing you to choose when to fight other players.

If you are still learning your abilities, finding quest locations, or exploring Azeroth for the first time, that extra control can help you settle in.
Choose PvP instead if the possibility of an enemy-player attack is part of the fun for you.

What Is the Difference Between Roleplay and Roleplay PvP?

Both roleplaying rulesets have strict naming conventions and behavior rules. Roleplay PvP also includes the ongoing threat of attacks from opposing players.

Choose Roleplay for character immersion without selecting the PvP-focused option. Choose Roleplay PvP if you want that same roleplaying environment combined with player combat.

Can Friends on Different WoW Forever Rulesets Play Together?

According to the selection screen, you can only interact with players who choose the same ruleset. Matching your friends’ ruleset is therefore an essential first-login decision.

Before confirming, ask your group one simple question: “Are we choosing Normal, PvP, Roleplay, or Roleplay PvP?” A quick check now helps everyone start on the same path.

Subscription, Game Time, and Edition Requirements

An active WoW subscription or game time includes standard Forever access. The digital upgrades are optional, although playing Skyborne requires the Heroic Pack or a higher upgrade.

What Is New at Launch?

The launch offering expands the original world with new quests, destinations, dungeons, character options, and progression systems.
Blizzard's overview names Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, the Riverglades, and Zephras Isle, alongside more than 1,000 new quests.

Nine new five-player dungeons

Blizzard's dungeon overview lists additions across leveling and maximum-level ranges. These are its published ranges, not a promise that every group should enter at the lowest listed level.

For a first visit, plan enough time to find the entrance and learn encounters. Agree on whether your group wants exploration or a quicker clear. That small conversation can prevent a surprisingly large argument beside a dungeon door.

New character combinations

Blizzard confirms Human Hunters, Dwarf Shamans, Gnome Priests, Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, and Undead Paladins. Skyborne begins on Zephras Isle and can join either faction, with some class options depending on that faction choice.

An Undead Paladin certainly gives the Light an interesting recruitment story. For practical purposes, verify the exact combination in character creation before committing your group's plan to it.

Camping and Legacy progression

Camping expands the Basic Campfire into a shared place for profession contributions and useful benefits. The Legacy System awards account-wide points through challenges, while characters allocate those points separately. Blizzard describes launch limits of 16 spendable points per character and up to 65 earnable points.

Our recommendation is to learn these systems as they become relevant to your chosen activities. Avoid turning the opening evening into a checklist of every possible unlock.

First-Hour Gameplay Plan for New and Returning Players

Use your first hour to establish a comfortable character, learn the immediate area, and connect with your group. The schedule below is an editorial suggestion. It does not promise a level milestone, quest completion time, or uninterrupted access.

For new players, a good first milestone is being able to explain your next objective without needing another guide.
Where are you going?
What does the quest ask?
Which ability helps you survive?

Returning players can use the same hour to test old habits.
A remembered keybind or route may not match the selected settings or current game.
Give yourself room to relearn without treating every mistake as lost progress.

For family and friend groups, discuss pace openly.
If one person wants to read dialogue and another wants rapid leveling, make that difference visible early.
You can plan shared activities without demanding identical progress every evening.

Common Launch Problems and How to Check Official Updates

Start by identifying whether the problem concerns your account, installation, character choices, or a reported service issue. This troubleshooting order is editorial advice. It is not a list of confirmed launch-day outages.

Blizzard's starter guide says grouping, guilds, dungeons, and raids require the same ruleset and faction.
Check those choices before assuming a grouping failure is a server bug.

Keep the exact error message when seeking help. “It does not work” leaves out the clue a support article may need. Record the code, when it appeared, and whether the issue affected login, character selection, or gameplay.

Historical beta notes should not be presented as a current launch incident list. The official development thread is labeled updated November 2, but contains accumulated changes and issues from testing. Check each entry's date and resolution status.

Bookmark Blizzard News and Blizzard Support.
Check notices relevant to your region before following an old workaround or reinstalling the entire game.

What Happens After Launch?

The first announced raid openings are December 9, 2026. Hardcore is planned for later, with its timing unannounced in the reviewed starter guide.

Blizzard's raid guide also specifies the Drakefire Amulet attunement requirement for Onyxia's Lair.

If raiding interests you, choose a group size that fits your actual community. Put scheduling, roles, and preparation ahead of assumptions about how quickly everyone will level. If exploration is your goal, use the raid calendar as information rather than a deadline imposed on your own adventure.
