Greetings, Denizens of the Azeroth Galaxy!
Patch 12.1 is preparing to release Ula’tek, open the Coiled Isle, replace our dungeon homework, and make yesterday’s powerful gear look like something a kobold found behind the Auction House.
The good news is that you have one preparation week before Season 2 begins. The bad news is that Emperor Noob Sidious has already spent every crest upgrading a trinket he will replace on August 18.

🌀The Innkeeper’s Note (TL;DR)
Patch 12.1 launches on August 11, but Mythic+, the Venomous Abyss raid, Bountiful Delves, Nightmare Prey, PvP Season 2, and Season 2 Great Vault rewards begin on August 18.
Use the final days of Season 1 to collect limited rewards.
Then use patch week to unlock the Coiled Isle, study the dungeon rotation, complete Mythic 0, explore the new Delves, and prepare your professions and consumables.
Finish Seasonal Rewards: Prioritize Season 1 mounts, titles, portals, AOTC, Cutting Edge, Prey Journey, PvP rewards, and Nullaeus.
Complete Patch 12.1 Content: Unlock the Coiled Isle and finish the opening campaign before Season 2.
Learn the Dungeon Pool: Eight dungeons form the new Mythic+ rotation.
Protect Your Crests: Do not heavily upgrade weak transition gear without checking its track and long-term value.
Prepare the Great Vault: Season 2 credit begins during patch week, but Season 2 gear becomes claimable August 18.
Target Tier Quickly: Tier pieces come from the raid, Great Vault, PvP, and Catalyst.
Choose Your Main Early: Weekly currencies, crafted gear, tier progression, and vault slots reward focused play.

What to Do Before Season 1 Ends
The end of a season is not the time to farm five extra item levels you will replace. Focus on rewards that disappear or become harder to obtain.
Season 1 priority checklist
1. Claim your Mythic+ rewards
Complete the highest target you can reach:
The Timelost Saddle expires at the end of the season, so exchange it with Lindormi in Silvermoon City before the transition.
Keystone Myth reward details.
The Season 1 dungeon portals also become unavailable once their dungeons leave the active pool.

Finish the Season 1 raids
Seasonal raid targets include:
Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge for The Dreamrift
Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge for The Voidspire
Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge for March on Quel’Danas
Raid housing trophies from the final bosses
Season 1 class-set appearances
The Gleaming Sunmote visual unlock
If Mythic progression is outside your schedule, Heroic final-boss kills and their associated trophies offer a more reachable last-week target.
Complete Season 1 expiration list.
Defeat Nullaeus solo
Defeat Nullaeus alone on the highest Nemesis difficulty before Season 2 ends to earn the Arcanovoid Construct mount.
This should sit near the top of a collector’s list because the reward is tied directly to the Season 1 Nemesis challenge.

Finish the Prey Journey
Complete Big Prey Hunter, Season 1 and purchase any unlocked rewards you still want.
Do not leave unspent seasonal progress sitting in the Journey interface while the serpent is already packing its bags.
Finish PvP targets
Check your progress toward:
Vicious Snaplizard
Galaxy Weapon Illusion
Galactic Gladiator’s Goredrake
Seasonal elite armor
Galactic Legend’s Pennant
Seasonal titles
This season, I didn’t really play PvP, apart from the little chaos I had with my Rogue, and honestly, that barely counts.
But if PvP is your battlefield, take a look at these great guides.
They’ll help you push higher, improve faster, and actually survive longer than my Rogue did.
Farm departing dungeon mounts
The 📹 Lucent Hawkstrider and 📹 Spectral Hawkstrider become unavailable when their associated dungeons leave the seasonal pool.
Blizzard says they will return as Mythic 0 drops in the next expansion, but collectors should attempt them now if they want the mounts during Midnight.
Patch Week, August 11 to August 17
This is the preparation week. You are not falling behind because Mythic+ is closed and the raid has not opened.
What unlocks on August 11
Coiled Isle campaign and Patch 12.1 content
Altar of Fangs
New Heroic and Mythic 0 dungeon rotation
Mythic 0 on a weekly lockout
Season 2 Delve tiers, without Bountiful Delves
Initial Nemesis difficulty
Normal and Hard Prey
Tidebound Grotto on World difficulty
Training Grounds Arenas
Season 2 Great Vault credit begins
Your patch-week order
Step 1: Complete the introductory campaign
Unlock the Coiled Isle, relevant vendors, Journey progress, Prey systems, and travel routes before starting repeated content.
Do this first on your main. Your alts can follow after you understand which unlocks are Warband-wide.
Step 2: Run Mythic 0 dungeons
Mythic 0 drops item level 292 gear and uses a weekly reset during patch week. This equals the beginning of the Champion track and provides useful transition pieces for Season 2.
Prioritize:
Weapons
Trinkets
Tier-compatible armor slots
Pieces with strong secondary stats
Items required for your Great Vault objectives
Step 3: Learn the Season 2 dungeon rotation
The eight dungeons are:
Altar of Fangs (New Patch 12.1 Dungeon)
Murder Row (Midnight)
Den of Nalorakk (Midnight)
The Blinding Vale (Midnight)
Voidscar Arena (Midnight)
Kings' Rest (Battle for Azeroth)
Temple of Sethraliss (Battle for Azeroth)
Ruby Life Pools (Dragonflight)
Your fastest preparation is not another random gear farm.
Learn dangerous trash casts, boss routes, dispels, skips, tank positioning, and where your group should use Bloodlust.
📍🖱️Stay tuned; your Mythic Plus guides for season 2 are here!
Step 4: Complete the new Delves
Explore:
The Ring of Glory
Gnarldor Isle
Venomfall Deeps
Bountiful rewards and keys are not active yet, so use this week to learn layouts, mechanics, rares, and objectives.
Step 5: Begin Prey progression
Normal and Hard Prey are available. The weekly hunt limit increases to 15, and successful hunts award Corrosive Souls.
Corrosive Souls empower bracers and belts for outdoor content, Delves, Ritual Sites, and the Coiled Isle. These powers do not function inside dungeons or raids.
Step 6: Prepare professions and consumables
Before August 18:
Restock flasks, food, potions, oils, enchants, gems, and repair funds.
Review your best crafted Season 2 embellishments.
Prepare crafting orders without committing limited materials too early.
Update addons, WeakAuras, boss mods, nameplates, and dungeon routes.
Clean your bags and quest log.
Confirm your raid lockout and guild schedule.
Week 1, August 18 to August 24
This is the first competitive week.
What unlocks on August 18
The Venomous Abyss on Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Raid Finder Wing 1
Mythic+ Season 2
Mythic 0 changes to a daily reset
PvP Season 2
Bountiful Delves and keys
Higher Nemesis difficulty
Nightmare Prey and Curse of the Isle
Season 2 Great Vault gear
Tidebound Grotto on Normal, Heroic, and flexible Mythic
Recommended Week 1 order
1. Open your Great Vault
Because Season 2 credit begins during patch week, check your vault before launching into the new raid. Do not select a reward until you compare it against your raid, tier, crafted gear, and Catalyst plans.
2. Clear your raid difficulty
The Venomous Abyss contains eight bosses:
Nek’zali the Soulcoiler
Entombed Sentinels
The Lost Explorers
Vashnik the Malignant
Sszorak
The Twin Fangs
The Coiled Altar
Ula’tek
Normal gear starts at item level 292, Heroic starts at 305, and Mythic starts at 318. The last two Mythic bosses can drop item level 344, equivalent to Myth 9 gear. Venomous Abyss loot table.
Bosses two through six drop tier tokens. Ula’tek drops the Slumbering Coil Curio, exchangeable for a tier piece of your choice.
3. Establish Mythic+ rating
Do not begin by forcing keys your group cannot finish. Build rating across all eight dungeons while learning routes.
Season 2 targets include:
Blizzard estimates 2,000 rating at approximately timed +7 keys, while 3,000 requires a mixture of timed +12 and +13 keys.
4. Complete Bountiful Delves
Use your keys on the highest tier you can complete reliably. Fill your Delve Great Vault slots and save risky Nemesis attempts for after you have collected the week’s easier power gains.
5. Challenge Azta’rec during the first week
This reward has the shortest deadline in Season 2.
Players who defeat Azta’rec solo during the first week can earn the Fabled Vanquisher of Azta’rec title and its Feat of Strength. Defeating Azta’rec solo at the required seasonal difficulty before Season 3 awards the Apophic Soul Crusher mount.
The published overview still displays placeholder difficulty symbols, so verify the live achievement text after the patch before attempting it.
6. Complete Tidebound Grotto
Nymrissa Wavecaller’s Lair offers raid-level gear and counts toward the Raid section of the Great Vault. Its Mythic difficulty supports flexible scaling for 15 to 25 players.
2 Week 2, August 25 to August 31
Week 2 is where your gearing plan becomes clearer.
What unlocks
The Venomous Abyss Raid Finder Wing 2
The Venomous Abyss Story Mode
Your first vault generated from full Season 2 activities
Additional opportunities for tier, crests, raid loot, and rating
Week 2 priorities
1. Build your tier set
Compare all available routes:
Raid tier tokens
Ula’tek’s Slumbering Coil Curio
Great Vault
PvP
Catalyst in Silvermoon City
The Season 2 Catalyst preserves secondary stats and eligible cantrip effects from the original converted item. This makes the base item more important than in previous seasons.
2. Use crests with a plan
Gear upgrades retain a flat cost of 20 crests per rank, with crafted upgrades requiring 80 crests. Season 2 gear can reach item level 344 at the highest special raid level.
Upgrade in this order:
Best-in-slot weapons and powerful trinkets
Tier pieces you expect to keep
High-track items with ideal stats
Jewelry with strong secondary-stat combinations
Temporary pieces only when needed for immediate progression
3. Expand your Mythic+ coverage
By Week 2, you should have a score in every dungeon. Target missing dungeons before repeating comfortable keys.
4. Review your Great Vault before crafting
Never craft an expensive replacement before opening the vault. Emperor Noob Sidious once crafted boots before reset and received the same boots at a higher track. The Dark Side offers power, but apparently not refunds.
5. Push raid progression
Normal players can begin Heroic. Heroic groups can target deeper bosses and tier tokens. Mythic groups should ensure every character has completed all available weekly gearing sources before progression.
