Greetings, Denizens of the Azeroth Galaxy!

Skyreach is one of the returning dungeons in Midnight Season 1, bringing the old Spires of Arak favorite back into the active Mythic+ pool. It reopened on Normal during 12.0.1, then unlocked on Heroic and Mythic when Season 1 began.

💭 Atop the crowning pinnacle of the Spires of Arak, amidst the clouds, Skyreach stands as the seat of power of the Adherents of Rukhmar. The arakkoa have gathered and harnessed the Apexis technology of their forebears, and now they are ready to unleash the focused power of the sun upon their enemies.

This dungeon lives high above the clouds at the seat of the Adherents of Rukhmar, where sun-powered arakkoa nonsense meets ledges, knockbacks, beams, and many exciting ways to fall off the map.

🌀The Innkeeper’s Note (TL;DR)

Skyreach is a movement dungeon. If your group dodges cleanly, interrupts on time, and respects every ledge like it owes them money, the run feels smooth. If not, the place turns into a windy documentary about poor decisions.

  • Edges can be the real final boss if you blink.

  • Interrupts matter on trash and on Viryx.

  • Ranjit punishes panic movement.

  • Araknath is a simple soak check with brutal consequences if ignored Blast Wave.

  • Rukhran punishes messy add kills and bad pillar usage.

  • Viryx rewards control, fast add cleanup, and smart beam placement.

Trash, Pull Control, and How Groups Donate Their Key to the Void

Trash in Skyreach is there to remind your party that being high in the sky does not make bad decisions float.

The rule set stays simple. You don't fly... Priest, Mage, Hunter, and Dragons included (Pally, your bubble won't save you this time), don't fall.
Avoid frontals, interrupt dangerous casts, stack enemies when it is safe, stun them, and burn them down together. Healers should clear curses, bleeds, and heavy pull pressure quickly. Tanks should face dangerous attacks away from the group and pop defensives before things become dramatic.

One special rule matters more here than in many dungeons, everyone should play near a wall when needed. Several enemies can knock players back, and getting launched off the platform is a very embarrassing form of crowd control. Kick the wind casts, dodge the frontal pressure, and treat every ledge like a trap with nice scenery.

If your group dies by falling off in Skyreach, the dungeon did not outplay you. Gravity did.

How to defeat
Ranjit

Ranjit, SKyreach, wow, midnight, wowprimer, midnight mythic season1

Ranjit opens the dungeon by teaching the ancient and noble lesson of not standing where the spinning death is headed. This fight is all movement. The boss throws Gale Surge, Wind Chakram, Fan of Blades, and later turns the platform into a full wind circus with Chakram Vortex.

A strong opening with lust is completely fine here. Gale Surge needs to be dodged cleanly, and nobody should drift near the platform edge unless they enjoy tragic endings. Wind Chakram should be treated with respect both going out and coming back, so tanks should keep the boss positioned away from the returning path when possible.

Fan of Blades puts pressure on the group, so personal defensives and self-healing matter until the damage is cleaned up. Then comes Chakram Vortex, where the platform starts looking like an angry weather report. The easiest way to handle it is calm, circular movement, not random screaming and sprinting.

This fight is not complicated. It is just honest. Dodge the dangerous things, respect the edge, and do not let the boss turn you into wind-powered comedy.

How to defeat
Araknath

Araknath is the kind of boss that looks simple because it actually is simple. That is why groups still mess it up. The main idea is easy, soak the three light rays, then move out the moment they turn into dusty triangles.

Tanks need to stay in melee and keep the boss under control at all times, Blast Wave. That stops the nasty wipe pressure from building in the wrong way.
The frontal should always point away from the group, and everybody soaking the light needs to react quickly once the shape changes.

This is one of those fights where overthinking is more dangerous than the mechanics. Stand in the beams when you should, leave when you should, and do not turn a basic school assignment into a thesis on failure.

  • Tanks stay in Melee all the time, preventing Blast Wave.

  • Soak the 3 Lights and move out as soon as they become dusty triangles.

How to defeat
Rukhran

Rukhran, SKyreach, wow, midnight, wowprimer, midnight mythic season1
Rukhran, SKyreach, wow, midnight, wowprimer, midnight mythic season1

Rukhran is where Skyreach starts punishing sloppy add management. The boss itself is dangerous, but the real trouble comes from the fixating birds and the eggs they leave behind.

Tanks should stay in melee and keep the boss steady so the group does not eat avoidable disaster from range mistakes. When adds fixate a player with Burning Pursuit, kill them, but do it carefully. Those adds leave eggs behind, so you do not want to kill more adds right on top of the eggs unless you plan to hatch fresh problems for free.

The biggest room check is Searing Quills. When that starts, hide behind a pillar and break the line of sight. Standing out in the open during this cast is not bravery. It is volunteering to become crispy poultry.

Rukhran rewards patient movement and clean positioning. Kite the fixates properly, keep the egg area under control, and use the pillars like your key depends on them, because it does.

  • Tanks stay in Melle all the time, preventing Screech

  • Kill adds fixating a team member with Burning Pursuit, but be careful with the eggs they drop. Don't kill the adds near the eggs.

  • Dodge the Searing Quills hiding behind the pillars

How to defeat
High Sage Viryx

High Sage Viryx, SKyreach, wow, midnight, wowprimer, midnight mythic season1
High Sage Viryx, SKyreach, wow, midnight, wowprimer, midnight mythic season1

High Sage Viryx closes the dungeon with the most complete exam in the place, interrupts, add control, beam placement, and does not feed the platform edge.

The tank should keep the boss near the door and away from the edges as much as possible. That keeps the fight safer and gives the group better room to work. Solar Blast needs to be interrupted. Not admired, not discussed, interrupted.
When Cast Down grabs a player, the add needs to be slowed, crowd-controlled, and killed fast before the carried target becomes a falling cautionary tale.

When Lens Flare targets someone with the bad beam, that player should kite it toward the edge of the room and away from the team to save space. Then there is Scorching Ray, which is a real moment for healing and defensives. This is where the fight starts, asking whether your group still remembers how to behave under pressure.

Viryx is not beaten by damage alone. It is beaten by clean interrupts, fast reactions, and not dragging bad mechanics through your friends like a parade float.

  • Tank, keep the boss near the door, far from the edges, all the time

  • Interrupt Solar Blast

  • Cast Down - An add will grab a team member, CC, slow, and kill the add ASAP, or the carried player will die

  • When targeted by the Lens Flare run toward the room far from the team

  • Scorching Ray big heals and use defenses
